The Boy of the ’90

Together with Laurent Jalabert, Bugno is known as one of the last runners able to compete at the highest levels both in the Classics and in the great stage Three Weeks Races. He won time trials, mountain stages and sprint finish, attending always the most important cycling competitions of the season.

Much decorated cyclist Champion

He won nine stages of the “Giro d’Italia”, together with the final in 1990; four stages of the “Tour de France” and two of the “Vuelta”. He won also the Milan-Sanremo, the Tour of Flanders, the Milan-Turin and the Tour of Emilia.

From 1990 and 1991 he was also Nr One in the UCI worldwide Classify.

Beyond the successes achieved, what exalted the biggest fans as well as the wisest critics, was the way he won; each victory was a real, touching enterprise.

“There is no special victory that I consider more important than the others. Every single victory gave me a full bunch of emotions, a great joy and satisfaction; they all represent very important and prestigious goals.”
